Cameraman Charlie Brown
The folks in St. Paul, Minnesota are a quiet unassuming lot not prone to bragging or getting above oneself. For every rule, there's an exception and that exception is favorite son Charles Schultz, the famous cartoonist who created the beloved American comic strip Peanuts. In celebration, the St. Paul Peanuts festival distributed fiberglass statues of Charlie Brown to local artists who modified them into unique works. I was honored to create Cameraman Charlie Brown. Inspired by my fellow news videographers, he came complete with vest, reporters notebook, press credentials, gaffers tape, and a real working camera that sent images of visitors to an adjacent television.
Cameraman Charlie Brown drew visitors from far and wide and was featured on Good Morning America, the front page of the St. Paul Pioneer Press, and other publications.
